Rates and Reservations
The Athenaeum Hotel operates on the traditional American plan which means that the daily rates include all three meals. Guests are required to have a Chautauqua Institution gate pass while staying at the hotel. Room rates do not include the gate pass. For your convenience, the reservations department will assist you in purchasing a gate pass and a reservationist will directly contact all guests that book online.

Important Information
Deposit And Refund Policy: A $500 Deposit per person must accompany all reservations. Normal weekly stay runs from Sunday to Sunday. The deposit will be refunded, less a charge of $250 per person, with a least 30 days advance notice of cancellation. Total deposit is non-refundable if less than 30 days notice is given. Trip insurance is strongly recommended.
Additional Charges: A $25 administrative service charge per person, per day, and applicable New York State sales (currently 7.5%) on the total (including the service charge) will be added to the room rates quoted above. A county tax of 5% will be added to the room rate only. with no part of that going to employees. Our employees are paid hourly, where applicable, and we provide an equitable earning opportunity for all of our service staff. Tipping is neither encouraged, nor expected.
Check-In and Check-Out Time: Check–in time is 4 p.m. Check out time is 10 a.m.
Early Departure Fee: A fee equal to the remainder of the stay will be applied for a reservation departing early.
Dining Room Dress Code: The Athenaeum tradition of coat and tie is always welcome at dinner; we do require business style attire such as slacks and a button up shirt for gentlemen and slacks, skirt or dress for ladies (no jeans, shorts or T-shirts please). Resort casual is acceptable for breakfast, lunch and Sunday Brunch.
Alcohol: A full selection of wine and beer is available to compliment your lunch & dinner experience. All charges are in addition to your daily rate and will be added to your daily room charges or should you choose can be paid for separately by cash or credit card in the dining room.
Gate Pass: A Chautauqua Institution gate pass is required during your stay and allows for entrance into all amphitheater lectures and performances. The gate pass also will be required to exit and reenter the Chautauqua grounds. Gate passes for all guests of the Athenaeum will be processed by the hotel reservation office and will be held at the registration desk for your arrival or mailed of your convenience. An additional confirmation will be sent to guests that will provide entrance to the Chautauqua grounds through the Market Gate.
Opera and Theater Tickets: The reservation office will process opera and theater ticket requests prior to arrival as well as during the stay. The ticket sales will be based on availability at the time of the request.
Parking: A Chautauqua Institution parking pass is required for all cars ($8.00 daily). Parking is in the Main Lot across the highway from the Chautauqua grounds. The bellmen offer a valet service to the hotel valet lot for a round trip fee of $5 plus tax. There is very limited hotel parking for a daily fee of $46.
