Rates and Reservations

The Athenaeum Hotel’s rates include breakfast. A dining plan that includes lunch and dinner daily may be purchased for $65 per person/per night. The hotel also offers a full service restaurant that is available to hotel guests. 

Room rates do not include a gate pass. Guests are required to have a Chautauqua Institution gate pass while staying at the hotel. The reservations department will assist you in purchasing a gate pass.

Group Rates
Group rates: Groups of 20 or more qualify for discounts of 10-20% off regular short-term ticket prices with motor coach groups receiving complimentary tickets for escorts. In addition, long-term tickets are discounted with an overnight stay at The Athenaeum Hotel.

Important Information

Deposit
All reservations are confirmed with a deposit that is placed towards the total stay balance.  Reservations of 3+ nights require a $500 deposit.  Overnight and two night reservations reaquire the first night stay payment in full at the time of booking.  Reservations are non-guaranteed until a deposit is made.

Check-in and checkout
Check–in time is 3:00 PM.  Check-out time is 10:00 AM.  Early arrivals are accepted as possible, but cannot be arranged ahead of time.  Late departures are subject to a $50 fee unless pre-approved.

Gate Passes
All guests are required to have a Chautauqua Institution gate pass for the duration of their stay.  Gate passes are required to exit and reenter the grounds, and allow for entrance into the lecture series and Amphitheatre performances.  Gate passes for guests of the Athenaeum can be processed through the reservation office and will be held at the front desk.

Parking
A Chautauqua Institution parking pass is required for all cars.  Parking is in the Main Lot across the highway from the Chautauqua Institution grounds.  The Athenaeum Hotel offers a valet service to the hotel valet lot for a round trip fee of $5 plus tax.  A complimentary shuttle is also available.

Meal Plan
Any changes to meal plans must be made at least 7 days before the reservation start date.  The meal plan includes breakfast, lunch and a three-course dinner per guest.  The Athenaeum Hotel is not responsible for crediting any meals that are not consumed during the stay.  Reservations are recommended.  A full selection of wine and beer is served with lunch and dinner.

Dining
Heirloom Restaurant at the Athenaeum Hotel provides a breakfast buffet to all hotel guests.  Lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch are also available.  Meals may be charged to guest rooms, and reservations are recommended.

Gratuity
Gratuity is not included in any portion of the stay balance at the hotel.  Guests may leave gratuities for service staff at their discretion.  Gratuities may be charged to the room when dining at the in-house restaurant.

Restaurant Dress Code
The Athenaeum tradition of coat and tie is always welcome at dinner; we recommend business casual attire at dinner and kindly request no jeans, shorts, or T-shirts.  Resort casual attire is acceptable for breakfast, lunch, and Sunday Brunch.

Tickets
The reservation office will process opera, theatre, and preferred seating requests.  Ticket sales will be based on availability at the time of the request.  Additionally the Chautauqua Institution ticketing office can be reached at 716.357.6250.

Early Departure Fees
A fee equal to the remainder of the stay will be applied to the reservation departing early once checked in.

Cancellations and Refunds
All reservations will receive a courtesy hold of 3 days in which to cancel the reservation for a full deposit refund, unless they are booked within one week of the start date.  Any deposit that required payment in full at the time of booking is non-refundable after the 3 day hold period.  Deposits of $500 are eligible for a 50% refund if cancelled with at least 30 days notice of the reservation start date.  Within 30 days of the reservation, all deposits are non-refundable.  All deposits are transferable to new dates of stay within the present season with a minimum of 7 days notice.  Within 7 days, the deposit is non-transferrable and may result in a charge of the full stay balance.
