Fall at the Athenaeum
The Athenaeum Hotel is open to nightly guests throughout Chautauqua Institution’s summer season and then re-opens each fall as host to conferences, weddings and a variety of special events.
Weddings and Special Events
The Chautauqua Setting is the perfect setting for any special occasion. Our special events coordinator will plan every detail of your event with you. We not only host events in the Hotel, but in many locations on Chautauqua’s grounds as well. Many people choose to get married at the enchanting Hall of Philosophy or in a romantic lake setting by the bell tower.
Conferences
With a variety of unique meeting venues available, the Athenaeum can accommodate any group. The unique setting and quiet atmosphere is conducive to creative thinking and will ensure a memorable and productive meeting for any organization.
Road Scholar
Chautauqua has been a host site for Elderhostel programs since the early 1990s. Much has changed since then, most recently a new name—now Road Scholar— which represents the opportunity to explore one’s mind and discover the world through thought-provoking adventures in learning. It is easy to understand why Chautauqua has enjoyed such a positive success with this partnership in programming. Having received the designation as a Premier Provider in 2007, Chautauqua will offer ten programs to over 1,000 participants from May to October with in-season summer programs offered every week during the 9-week season.
Farm to Table
Chautauqua County has the richest soil in New York State and the Athenaeum Hotel at Chautauqua Institution takes advantage of the region's rich local farm products in its elegant cuisine. Guests will be guided through a five course dinner prepared with all local ingredients provided by regional producers. Each course will be paired with a local wine or beer. Presented with a narrative and audio visual backdrop, guests will be given an opportunity to meet many of those farmers who have supplied products and learn more about the mission of bringing locally grown products to the table. Overnight guests will enjoy a hearty locally sourced Chautauqua breakfast the following Sunday morning.
Jazz at Chautauqua
Chautauqua’s Jazz Festival presents traditional jazz music in a setting that allows audiences to enjoy America’s own unique art form in one of the country’s most beautiful settings, the Athenaeum Hotel at Chautauqua Institution. The four-day weekend features over 30 of the best traditional jazz musicians America has to offer.
