About the Athenaeum Hotel
One of the first hotels to have electric lights, The Athenaeum is architecturally reminiscent of the elaborate "Saratoga-style" resort hotels of the turn of the century. Ten U.S. Presidents, beginning with Ulysses S. Grant, And most recently, William Clinton have visited Chautauqua. Hundreds of other well-known Chautauqua visitors, have been Athenaeum Hotel guests.
A blend of authentic period furnishings and fixtures, comfortable wicker chairs and settees, romantic lace curtains, scrupulously selected wallpaper and color schemes preserve the Athenaeum's rich historical presence and extend a cordial Victorian-style welcome to our guests.
